Stroke Rehabilitation Program (Inpatient)
Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital is 90-bed rehabilitation hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The hospital has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for the following programs:
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Adults)
- Brain Injury Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Adults)
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Stroke Specialty Programs)
- Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)
The Stroke Rehabilitation Program provides interdisciplinary rehabilitation services which stress an individualized approach on an inpatient basis.
Family participation is critical to an individual’s recovery; family members and significant others are encouraged to become involved right from the start. The program allows each individual the opportunity to develop the skills needed to cope with the physical and emotional changes created by a stroke.
Therapeutic Objectives
- Restore the individual to a productive and satisfying life within the scope of his or her rehabilitation potential
- Utilize a team approach, including physiatry, rehabilitation nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, psychology, neuropsychology and case management
- Maximize communication skills, restore cognitive functioning and return to the community
- Teach the individual and family how to compensate for functional limitations

Admission Process
- Referral by a local physician, hospital social services or by personally calling the Admissions Department
- Evaluation by a nurse at no charge
- Review by the Pre-admission Screening Committee to determine rehabilitation potential

The medical community offers multiple choices for rehabilitation care and it may be difficult to determine which level of care is appropriate.
