Orthopedic Program

Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital is 90-bed rehabilitation hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).  The hospital has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for the following programs:

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Adults)
  • Brain Injury Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Adults)
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Stroke Specialty Programs)
  • Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)

The Orthopedic Program at Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital is designed to treat post-surgical patients such as hip and knee replacements, fractured hips and those suffering from multiple trauma.

At Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital, therapy is available seven days a week.  During the week, there is a minimum of three hours a day of therapy.  Your daily times will be posted on the personal board in your room and the weekday times are also posted on the big board at the nurse’s station. Your therapist will keep you informed about your weekend therapy, which may vary in length and time of day.  After instruction, and if appropriate, you can wheel yourself in the wheelchair to your therapy appointments to increase your endurance and independence.  You may be encouraged to do more for yourself in the way of dressing, grooming, hygiene and mobility in order to achieve a goal of optimal function for discharge home.  If you have difficulties our staff is available to assist you.

A primary goal of rehabilitation is to prepare patients, families or caregivers to return home and to the community at the highest level of independence and safety.

Your team will work with you, along with the goals you’ve set, to establish the appropriateness and timing of your treatments throughout your stay in order to improve your independence, safety and confidence in returning to your home or into the community.
