What is an Adaptive Driving Program?
- This program is designed to assist individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities return to safe driving using adaptive equipment and car modifications.
Who Can Benefit?
- Anyone with long-standing or new limitations of physical strength, coordination, endurance, vision, safety, perception and/or decision-making. - Anyone who needs training using adaptive equipment to help them drive safely.
What Makes Up the Driving Evaluation?
- A clinical evaluation of strength, mobility, coordination and vision/perception - An on-the-road evaluation of driving skills and safety in the Adaptive Driving Program car - Recommendations for driving restrictions, adaptive equipment and training
What is Adaptive Driving Training?
Private hands-on training in the use of adaptive equipment and car modifications designed to help return an individual with disabilities to independent driving
General Information:
- Qualified and experienced staff, including physical and occupational therapists - On-the-road testing and training is done in the specially equipped Adaptive Driving Program Car
