The following are brief explanations of the care offered in various settings.
ACUTE CARE: The first step in the rehabilitation process begins at the acute care hospital. For example, while at Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital, your therapy would focus on getting you up and moving. Based on your medical stability you could receive 30 minutes to an hour of therapy a day, helping you start on the road to recovery and reaching your goals.
INPATIENT REHABILITATION: Short-term intensive training and education, in a hospital-based rehabIlitation setting such as Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital to prepare you for the transition home. Therapy is provided 3 hours a day or 15 hours a week and is supplemented by rehabilitation nursing, 24 hours a day and doctor visits, 3 or more times a week.
OUTPATIENT REHABILITATION: Training and education performed in a freestanding outpatient setting such as Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital. Therapy is usually provided 2-3 times a week to further independence in your home or community.
